Lower School Events

At Smith Preparatory Academy, we believe that education is not confined to the classroom. Our field trips provide lower school students and their families with immersive, hands-on experiences that bring learning to life.

Each field trip is designed to deepen students’ understanding of God’s creation and human achievement, fostering a sense of wonder, curiosity, and gratitude.

A visit to a historic battlefield allows students to reflect on the sacrifices of the past, while a day at a science center reveals the intricacies of God’s design in the natural world. By engaging with primary sources, living history, and the beauty of the arts, students cultivate a broader perspective on their studies, seeing firsthand how God’s providence and human creativity have shaped the world. These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also nurture a deeper love for truth, goodness, and beauty.

These excursions, which occasionally include upper school students, are carefully selected to align with our classical Christian curriculum, reinforcing the lessons students encounter in history, science, and literature. Whether exploring museums, historical landmarks, nature preserves, or theatrical performances, these trips encourage students to see, touch, and experience the subjects they study, making education tangible and memorable.

Additional Field Trip Information

While Smith Prep organizes and facilitates these enriching excursions, parents play a vital role by transporting and chaperoning their children, ensuring that these outings remain family-centered and community-driven.

Field trips typically are held on select Fridays when there are no conflicting school-wide events, offering families the flexibility to participate while enjoying substantial discounts arranged by the school. More than just educational outings, these experiences strengthen relationships among Smith Prep families, creating memories and meaningful conversations. As students and parents explore, learn, and reflect together, they not only expand their knowledge but also deepen their appreciation for the beauty and order of God’s world.
