Sports & Clubs

Education at Smith Prep extends beyond the classroom. Throughout the school year, students have opportunities to develop their interests, practice new skills, build friendships, and enjoy healthy competition through a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities.

At Smith Preparatory Academy, we believe athletics do play an important role in developing perseverance, discipline, courage, teamwork, and healthy competition.

While Smith Prep does not currently sponsor interscholastic athletics through the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), our students are not prevented from participating in competitive school athletics.

Under Florida law, eligible Smith Prep middle and high school students may seek participation in sports offered by an FHSAA member public school in their school district or, by agreement, at an FHSAA member private school, subject to applicable eligibility, registration, team, and FHSAA requirements.

Many Smith Prep students take advantage of these opportunities and compete successfully in athletics while remaining fully enrolled at Smith Prep. Our students have participated in football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, polo, cheerleading, and numerous other competitive sports. This arrangement allows students to receive a classical Christian education at Smith Prep while pursuing their athletic gifts and interests throughout the wider community.

Clubs & Activities

Offerings may vary from year to year, but Smith Prep regularly provides opportunities such as Archery, Debate, Drama, Chess, and other student clubs and activities. These programs give students another setting in which to cultivate confidence, discipline, creativity, leadership, cooperation, and good sportsmanship.

Whether a student is standing at the archery line, making an argument in debate, performing on stage, or planning the next move on a chessboard, our goal remains the same: to provide experiences that contribute to the formation of the whole person and help students grow in wisdom and virtue.
